SHAPING THE MACEDONIAN E-HEALTH SYSTEM IN LEGISLATION AND PRACTICE

Abstract: This scientific research focuses on both legal and practical issues that have occurred in Republic of North Macedonia in the past 20 years following the European and world trends and tendencies in e-health development. The focus of the research was on legal legislation and changes introduced to the legislation as results of the need to introduce new institutes and regulation regarding the functioning of e-health system in Macedonia. This included analyzes of the Law on Health Care, Law on Health Insurance, Law on protection of Patients’ Rights, Law on Health records, Law on Personal Data Protection, as well as other relevant laws ad by-laws that appear to be source of e-health in general, or specific e-health issues. A survey was conducted among citizens to research the established practice related to the changes in the legal system in health care, as well as to come to conclusions about the advantages and disadvantages related to these changes through the prism of the respondents’ perspectives.
