REFUGEE INTEGRATION: A NEW ESSENTIAL CHALLENGE FOR DEVELOPED SOCIETIES

Abstract: Each time brings its own challenges and in that context the modern times also brought with them a series of challenges among which one of the most important were the challenges arising from the refugee movements. Among these challenges one of the biggest was the challenge to integrate the refugees into their new societies. Namely the integration of refugees has actually managed to impose itself as one of the most significant challenges that today a large number of countries face and especially those countries that belong to the developed world. Developed societies are facing with the challenge to create an effective policies that will contribute to the successful integration of the refugee population. Namely the integration of refugees is in fact a very delicate process filled with a series of challenges and it can be said that it is a challenge of the modern times. The increase in the number of refugees worldwide further raises the issue of integration and imposes the need to create new policies that will facilitate the integration of refugees and will enable the refugees to successfully integrate into their new societies. The purpose of this paper is primarily to make a general analysis of the integration of refugees and to make a detailed study of the integration of refugees in the European Union and in the United States as one of the most developed societies in the modern world.
