Professor Valdis Bluzma is a researcher of history and law from Latvia. He graduated in 1974 from the University of Latvia with a degree in history with honors. In 1998 he defended his doctoral dissertation on the history of Latvia, devoted to the analysis of the history of the “left wave” in 1917-1919. Since 1991 he taught legal history at the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia, and since 2005 he teaches the courses “Public International Law” and “History of Latvian Law” for undergraduate students, “Jurisdiction of the International Courts” and “European Labour Law” for graduate students, and “Actual Problems of Legal History” for doctoral students at Turiba University. In 1999, Valdis Bluzma trained at the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom) on history of English law. He is the author of more than 200 scientific articles, monographs, textbooks, reviews on legal history of Latvia and general history of law, political history of Latvia, European law, and has participated in a number of international and national research projects.
